Add the Plays.tv extension to Chrome

You can get the extension at the http://plays.tv/download website, and click on the ‘Get the Chrome extension. This takes you to the Chrome store.

Click on the ‘Add to Chrome’ button. You will see the icon in the upper-right corner of the browser window.

Capturing Streams with the Extension

Now you can go to twitch.tv and find a live stream that you really like. If it’s a live stream, the extension’s icon will go from grey to blue, indicating that the extension is ready to capture the stream. You’ll also see a ‘Ready!’ notification.

To start capturing the stream, you can click on the extension icon and then click on the ‘Save Clip’ button. If you want, you can also set up a keyboard shortcut by hitting the ‘set a shortcut’ link in the same window.

So you’ve hit the ‘Save Clip’ button and the stream is being captured. It will record a clip of the previous 30 seconds of the broadcast, so be sure to begin after something cool is broadcast.

Plays.tv will give you a web page where there will be a message that the video is processing and will start playing when finished.

When the processing is done, the video will begin to play. That will also give you the ability to shorten the clip. Drag the yellow Start/End time markers and write in a description.

When you are ready, hit the ‘Update Video’ button and you are done!
